Pete Sitter, Principal of Linchpin Marketing

Pete is the founder and principal of Linchpin Marketing. His 30 years’ experience is divided between work with consulting/advertising firms and executive positions with industry category leaders.

Working as Director, Account Services at Tal, Inc., the region’s largest advertising agency, he had responsibility for First National Bank of Pennsylvania, McDonalds Restaurants, Hamot Medical Center, Pennbank, & Troyer Farms Snack Foods, In addition, he acted as an in-house consultant for such accounts as Welch Foods, Hershey Chocolate and Apple Computer.

In 1993, Pete accepted the position of Regional Vice President, Marketing and Public Affairs for PNC Bank. His responsibilities included directing regional advertising and marketing programs, community and media relations, advisory board activities and all internal and external communications for 60 PNC Bank offices located in northwestern, Pennsylvania.

While at PNC, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield offered Pete a growth opportunity to oversee the companies’ efforts to enhance its image throughout northwest Pennsylvania. Pete advanced quickly to eventually have responsibility for Highmark’s largest account and managing the profitability of over $260 million in health insurance premiums. In his position as Director, Regional Relationship Management and Market Strategy, Pete introduced account planning, sales consultation, and market segmentation concepts to improve retention and build market share and brand equity among Highmark Clients.

Pete left Highmark in 2004 to accept the position of Senior Vice President Marketing and Communications at Saint Vincent Health System where he established the organizations brand position, “We Know How to Treat People” and positioned the health system as the preferred source for life threatening/critical conditions.  This positioning resulted in annual increases in Stroke Care (+10%), PCI (+7%), ED Admission (+8%), Scheduled Tests (+4%) and Patient Transfers (+10%) under a challenging competitive environment. While at Saint Vincent, Pete introduced a regional referring physician segmentation program which facilitated referral management strategies for targeted markets. His responsibilities also included facilitating development of the health system strategic plan and it’s “3C” focus –Clinical Excellence, Customer Satisfaction and Compassion.

In 2010 Pete established Linchpin Marketing, a marketing and brand development firm. Linchpin is on the leading edge with a unique marketing approach that includes employees as an indispensable part of the consumer and product/service relationship that defines brands.
